Hey everybody!
This week's meeting was not as jam packed with announcements, but was laid-back and in preparation for the UTC Cha for Tea Fundraiser and Social. Thank you to those who took the time to come out to participate in the fundraiser and socialize with fellow members! This was a really great experience and we hope you made plenty of new friends within XAE!
Midterms are right around the corner for most of you (unless you're lucky and knocked them all out early!) This week's workshop focused on test-taking strategies and how to do well on your upcoming exams. In the weeks before an exam, it is very important to be active in your learning by attending class and taking thorough notes. Office hours, study groups, and tutoring are also there to help you understand the material better, which makes for a better exam grade! If you have a disability that may inhibit your performance on an exam, the Disability Services Center is there to help you and will make accommodations that will facilitate the test taking. For the night before an exam, it is important to be prepared, and to focus even harder on understanding or memorizing material. Also have all your testing supplies ready or you will stress even more on exam day, which will affect your test score negatively! Be confident in your ability to do well, and be ultra careful when time management and all of the questions. One method that was suggested was to take the exam backwards, which is not recommended but can work out for certain students! Checking all your answers multiple times is also important, in case you are missing information or bubbled an answer wrong. Avoid omitting any answers because as Wayne Gretzky once said, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."
Good luck to everyone taking midterms or submitting important essays or the like!
