Hello everyone!
I hope everyone is doing well with midterms! We're halfway through the quarter so keep it up! It might get overwhelming when you have to study for multiple exams, but I'm sure all of you will do just fine! Just a reminder that membership fees are due WEEK 7! Talk to any one of the board members to set up a meeting for you to pay! ($45 for the ENTIRE year + a t-shirt / $20 per quarter, no shirt).
Since coursework seems to stay constant as exams roll through, it's easy to get yourself lost in all those due dates, notes, paperwork, etc. This is precisely why the ability to organize not only your schoolwork but daily life is essential on your path to success! Here are some tips that we talked about during the last meeting:
Stay committed!
It's easy to fall back into the same pattern of forgetting to write down important assignments and dates, but it's just as easy to pick up a pencil and paper and jot down your plans for the day. Motivating yourself to keep track of all your paperwork and due dates will be better in the long run. It will make it easier for you to remember things, reduce stress, and impress clubs and companies!
Write things down and be creative!
You guys have been using planners since you were probably in elementary school, so this shouldn't be too hard. Most planners have weekly/monthly templates for you - all you have to do is fill in the blanks! You might also want to try your hand at bullet journalling! Not only is it great for keeping track of schoolwork, you can also keep track of how many steps you've taken, or how many cups of water you've had. Don't be afraid to get creative! From stickers to detailed drawings on the page, creativity provides a great incentive to keep yourself planning!
Go paperless!
There are a myriad of wonderful online tools and apps to help you get started on organization if you aren't keen on taking the time to write things down everyday. Organization apps have everything laid out for you, so all you have to do is type in an assignment and its due date and the app will make sure to notify you! If you're looking for a quick and easy way to log your tasks, going digital might be the choice for you! My favorite apps are Pocket Schedule (available in your mobile app store), and Taskade (available as a Google Chrome extension).
Make sure to organize your files!
Whether your handle your files physically or digitally, its important to be able to organize them in a way that is easier for later access. Keep those sticky tabs and paper clips in stock! It's never a good idea to have paperwork for different subjects mixed up.
We hope that you found this recap helpful! Remember to join our Facebook page, Chi Alpha Epsilon Zeta Rho Honor Society at UCI for more updates throughout the quarter. Good luck on your exams!
